International Education Week

During the celebration of International Education Week, which is celebrated throughout the United States, UNAM-Boston participated in the activities organized at the University of Massachusetts Boston, from November 18 to 22, 2019. A series of activities were carried out to promote Mexican culture, conferences, and information on exchange opportunities for UMass Boston students interested in studying at UNAM. Among these activities are: Short-Term Study Abroad Showcase During the fair, information was provided on opportunities for UMass Boston students who wish to study during winter or summer at UNAM, both at the University City campus and at venues in the interior of the Mexican Republic. Aztec Feather Art Lecture and Presentation by UNAM Faculty María Olvido Moreno Dr. Olvido Moreno, a researcher at the Institute of Aesthetic Research of the UNAM, gave a conference on the restoration and conservation work of the Moctezuma Plume that she carried out at the Wien Museum in Austria. The complications and challenges of the work, the advances that were achieved and the work that remains to be done. Of All, For All Cultural Festival A fair was held which served as a meeting point between various cultures of the world. At the request of the University of Massachusetts Boston, UNAM-Boston organized the participation of Mexico for the second consecutive year, spreading Mexican culture and to the National University. UNAM Mexico Information Session As part of the programs promoted between UMass Boston and UNAM-Boston, an informative session was organized for students about their study opportunities at UNAM: short stays, programs in intersemestral periods, semiannual exchanges, and full degrees. Mexican Revolution Film Screening and Discussion Commemorating the 109 years of the Mexican Revolution, the feature film Vámonos con Pancho Villa (1936) of the director Fernando Fuentes was screened, which was donated by the UNAM Film Library. Students, professors and staff of UMass Boston were able to learn more about the Mexican Revolution and once the film was over, two professors from the Department of Latin American and Iberian Studies of the University of Massachusetts, offered an analysis on the film and the social movement of 1910 , followed by a question and answer session with the attendees.
