Students from UNAM will conduct their professional internships remotely with UNAM-Boston

Given the current social distancing policies caused by Covid-19 and with the interest of fomenting that UNAM students get their degree promptly, the Head Office of UNAM in Boston, in coordination with the UNAM’s Campus in Acatlán, adapted the option for getting a degree through professional practices working with Head Offices of UNAM abroad so that outstanding alumni can benefit from the project using distance modality.

Hereunder, are presented the testimonies of the two students: Meztli Campo and Rodolfo Flores, who have been accepted by UNAM-Boston to engage in their professional practices remotely. Meztli and Rodolfo will have the opportunity to live a process of internationalization from home getting involved in the diverse projects of the UNAM´s Headquarters at New England and putting into practice the knowledge acquired through college.

Meztli Campo Martínez:

I am grateful for the opportunity that UNAM Boston gave me to conduct my professional practices with them and put into practice my knowledge in real projects. Facing new challenges and overcoming them improving my competitiveness in the labor market. Practicing video post-production is a fundamental part of widening my audiovisual skills. And it is very pleasing for me because it is the area in which I will focus on. In the same way, getting familiarized with the English language helps me expand my vocabulary, besides getting to know habits and customs of the country and respecting it when doing my job, being a huge support for my professional development in the language.

I was amazed by the reach that UNAM has in other countries and how the Centers for Mexican Studies abroad like UNAM-Boston create content on various political, socio-economic and cultural topics, aimed at an international audience. I am sure that with the knowledge acquired I will successfully obtain my degree and at the same time I will add work experience to my CV.

Rodolfo Flores:

Being graduated from UNAM is a privilege, it is something that a great amount of people in Mexico aspire to, consequently, the community graduated from this great University shares the same feeling which is the one of giving back some of what it has given to us. Conducting my professional practices with UNAM Boston, allows me to contribute to my University, acquiring experience in a multidisciplinary and international environment.

The job done by the Center for Mexican Studies has a purpose to trespass borders, to provide scientific and cultural knowledge, to be a first-level learning space in which the latest topics can be debated and thus, being able to move forward to a more responsible society, with values and sensitivity with their environment. I am proud to contribute to our University growth. Thank you so much to the UNAM-Boston team.
