The Deputy Director for Strategy and Management of the Center for Mexican Studies of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Boston, Mtro. Héctor Zavala, paid a two-day visit to the National School of Higher Studies León Unit (ENES), with the aim of exploring possibilities of collaboration between the ENES and higher education institutions located in New England.
Zavala was received by Dr. Laura Acosta, director of this Campus of the University, who expressed her interest in starting conversations to promote academic projects in the North Atlantic region of the United States. Various authorities and academics participated in the work sessions organized to present current projects and exchange opinions on the viability of internationalizing the academic offer of UNAM in León.
Being Health Sciences one of the approaches of the UNAM campus in Guanajuato, the facilities of the dentistry and physiotherapy clinics were visited, which have a great infrastructure and equipment with cutting-edge technology where American students will be welcomed for academic stays and internships. Also, the Division of Continuing Education and Innovation was visited, where students work in various entrepreneurship projects. The State of Massachusetts is an internationally recognized hub for star-ups, science, technology and innovation, and welcomes students from all over the world for training and internships in these fields of study.

Moreover, programs of cultural and language exchanges will be promoted, as is the case of a group of students from the University of Massachusetts Boston who will visit the San Miguel de Allende Extension during the summer of 2019.
This visit lays the foundations to expand academic exchanges and student and faculty mobility between the ENES León Unit and world-renowned American universities such as the University of Massachusetts, Boston University, Harvard University or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
