Javier Laguna
Director
At UNAM his main responsibilities have been, among others, Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, Head of the Clinical Teaching Evaluation Unit; Head of the Professional Orientation Unit of the School of Medicine; Secretary of the Area Council of Biological and Health Sciences and Deputy Director of Academic Cooperation of the Coordination of Graduate Studies.
He was Director of the UNAM Chicago Campus from 2010 to 2021. As of 2022, he is the Director of UNAM Boston.
Outside the University, he has served as Deputy Director of Research in the Health Services of the Government of Mexico City, Coordinator of Planning of the Inter-American Center for Social Security Studies and Executive Secretary of the Mexican Council of Graduate Studies.
- Member of several associations and author of several publications in the areas of quality of health services, medical education, public health and social security.
- Member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Bilingual Nurse Consortium.
- Received recognition from the Ibero-American Consular Association of Chicago for his support of Latin American cultural promotion in this city.
- Co-founder of the Network of Professional Mexicans of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad in Chicago.
- Member of the Board of Governors of The Newberry Library. Prestigious documentation and research center in the USA founded in 1887, being the first Latin American to be part of its Governing Council.
