Chimalli: tesoro de Moctezuma en Chapultepec

"In Mesoamerica, there were many types of shields and they were objects that accompanied different important figures of the elite, both warriors and rulers and even certain deities. The iconography was very varied and its decoration was very rich in components ”, explained the restorer of the National Museum of Anthropology-INAH Laura Filloy Nadal, one of those responsible for the multidisciplinary research that made possible the chimalli exhibition in Chapultepec. The curator explained the general characteristics of the Rodela, the precious objects that, according to historical records, were sent to Europe, and also commented that in Mexico there were only two pre-Hispanic pieces made with feathers. For its part, the specialist in feather art and curator of the same exhibition, María Olvido Moreno Guzmán, began her participation by analyzing an image of Book IX of the Florentine Codex in which the workshop of a lover is illustrated, that is, of a craftsman Pre-Hispanic specialized in feather art. Moreno stressed that the trades were inherited from father to son. Full video: bit.ly/2ZxN3W1
